Winter Skills

After the success of the first winter skills training Outdoor-Ambition are running another Winter Skills day in the Lakes District for Junior!!!! The group will enjoy training from qualified staff in the core skills for the winter environment. The Winter Skills course focuses on basic winter walking. All particpants gain a real understanding of the complexities of mountain hazards. Skills include:

Selection of clothing and equipment
Movement on snow using the boots and an axe
Self belay and self arrest
Use of crampons
Winter navigation skills
Understanding winter weather
Understanding snow and avalanches
Emergency Shelters
Snow anchors and emergency ropework

VENUE. All training will be conducted in the Lake District. We will chase the best conditions.

COST AND ACCREDITIATION. The total cost for the training £35.00 per person.

EQUIPMENT. All training equipment is provided, this includes boots.

TRAINING. The training will involve plenty of practise of the new skills and the whole days training is in the form of a journey. This allows all particpants to see the skills in the correct context and enjoy the benefits of the winter environment. This is a full day that will allow the participants to discover new horizons in their adventures.
